Lord, please have mercy!

Etsy, a website used for selling handcrafted, vintage, or custom items, currently has a shop claiming to sell Eucharistic hosts for Satanic desecration purposes.

The shop entitled, “PENTAGORA,” is a Satanic Etsy shop. The store sells satanic items for witchcraft and black masses, and uses the satanic pentagram as its business symbol.

The shop listed the Eucharistic hosts as “Real Catholic Hosts, consecrated by a priest!!! 9 pieces * * *!! Made in Germany!! Black Mass Magic Satanism.”

Here’s a screenshot of the listing below:

The listing’s description reads, “Real Catholic hosts, ordained by an authorized Catholic priest. / To abuse for classic black fairs or black magic purposes! / Made and consecrated in Germany! / 9 units per unit. / Unsorted selection, different motifs. / Product contains gluten and cereals.”

The shop continues to list the item, but it is currently sold out. One Twitter user claims “a fellow Catholic bought the remainder [of the hosts] and will be turning them over to a priest.”

Here’s the Twitter post below:

The user’s full post reads, “Hey Catholic Etsy shoppers, please REPORT THIS SHOP which is claiming to sell consecrated Hosts specifically for desecration. / (The listing is currently “sold out,” a fellow Catholic bought the remainder and will be turning them over to a priest.)

Respected canon lawyer Edward Peters responded to the above Twitter user, explaining that while this Etsy shop says these are true consecrated Catholic hosts, there is not sufficient evidence proving the claims.

Here’s his Twitter post below:

Peters’ full post reads, “Question. Why does everyone accept at face value the claim that these are real Hosts? If someone is willing to sell consecrated Hosts, are they above LYING about having consecrated Hosts for sale?”

Etsy has a “Prohibited Items Policy” page on its website, which forbids the sale of multiple item types, including “hate items” and “violent items.”

The website describes hate items as those that “support or glorify hatred toward people or otherwise demean people based upon: race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation (collectively, “protected groups”). We also prohibit items or content that promote organizations or people with such views.”

The website describes violent items as those that “glorify human suffering or tragedies, including items that commemorate or honor serial killers,” and “encourage, glorify, or celebrate acts of violence against individuals or groups.”

However, it is unclear as to whether or not Etsy allows the sale of Catholic consecrated hosts.

Multiple social media users posted their reactions to this shop, encouraging their fellow users to report the page. Legionaries of Christ priest Fr. Matthew P. Schneider tweeted his opinion on the issue.

Here’s Fr. Schneider’s tweet:

His full tweet reads, “I will not buy anything from @Etsy if they don’t take this down. / 1. Certain things cannot be sold, ever, period. / 2. These are stolen items.”

Fr. Schneider’s tweet comes in response to another Twitter user expressing her extreme displeasure with the page.

The full post reads, “This is so offensive to me as a #Catholic who treasures the #Eucharist. If you access @Etsy
on a web browser, you can search & report the store.

“Let’s make our voices heard as those who love the Eucharist & demand Etsy develop a policy banning the sale of Hosts. @relevantradio.”

Click here to report this Etsy page so they will remove this desecration of the Eucharist!
